Allies heroes of war

86 out of 100 of the top kills in sorties is now held by allied soldiers. The mighty Matilda tank is the prefered weapon of destruction on the top 100 list and Captain Druide holds the record this campaign with 136 kills in a sortie. 136 german soldiers deployed in Orval met an early death mostly armed with rifles or paks. Without panzers they could not fend off the might Matilda. Druide was reported missing in action after the sortie.

Skirmish at Philipville

(Apr 28, 2010) Major Joeusaf, XXO, 3. Kampfgruppe, 33. Infanteridivisionen: " I took OIC of 2 Panzer 1 Kampfgruppe out of Givet and set up a UMS about 1 KM out of Phillipville. I then spawned as a riflemen and raced towards the town to Help Onetin. Onetin and I then ran into the Army Base and killed the 2 AI MGs and came into the bunker, which was clear. We then defended the bunker, I killed 4 LMGs as he tried to take back the bunker. The radios were not up in time so we weren't able to capture it before I was killed by an LMG who also died. I then spawned at the Phillipville-Givet Depot and continued to fight there but we were not able to hold it and the town was back in Allied Hands."

Lieutenant Behemoth, 101st reported: " We held the Geel-Grobbendonk Cp, The attack on Geel was contested for over an hour. Myself and other members of 101st Airbourne decided to drop on town. Trevor8 flew us in a low alt drop on Geel-Paal Cp (spawnable) in town. After the jump I saw that the Geel-Paal Cp was destroyed, so I guided myself and landed in the second floor. I cleared the building then notice an EI hiding in bushes to the south so I opened fire with my SMG. After I killed him I proceeded to capture the depot. After capture I remembered that I saw two ei on the roof of the building next to me so I threw two grenades in their direction. I guarded cp till squaddies spawned in at Geel-Paal Depot then started heading north. I ran into a few individual EIs and killed them with ease. I was shot by rifle heading into the Geel-Mol Cp. Within 10-15 mins we had flooded and captured the town."

Brawl at Notre Dame

Major Asp007, French Army, reported on march 9th: " After sniping an opel driver making his way to the abby, I infiltrated the area shortly after it was lost. I watched as Lt Vonmodel made his wat to one church tower with his LMG waiting to fire off on my allied companions. I snuck my way up the tower and took him out then proceeded to make my way back to my hiding spot.
I heard foot steps of Maj Christianr who undoubtedly had been reported to of my presence nearby. As he came around the corner, I fired without raising my scope to save precious seconds left of my life. Sucessful hit in bringing him down.

I moved my position as I knew they were looking for me for certain now. Again, footsteps in the building that was my refuge. This time it was a courageous sapper, QM Sgt Darkton. Initially I missed with my first two shots and he set a satchel charge on teh wall in hopes that I wouldn't move far. He was unsuccessful in that attempt.
He came charging after me with knife drawn so I drew my knife and we rushed towards each other. We each got one stab on each other the first pass and then as my eyes were going dark from the blood, he landed the final blow on an honorable fight to the death."

(February 22nd) Sgt. Major Shane21 reported: " After spawning in, I decided to head west with my 50mm atg, and located a good position - on the east side of the river, west of Huy, by the train track, which had fairly good protection and concealment. Almost instantly, there were several 88mm atg, ht's and other vehicles trying to setup and gain a stable position from which to camp Huy.

I was wounded half way through the mission, however continued to fire and kill axis, my commander was killed, however, I managed to continue to fire and mark axis. I was posted as MIA, having killed 13 axis, and wounded several more."

Mortar barrage madness

Colour Sergeant Alfaracer reported: " The attack on Chimay was going well, we had driven tanks to the west hill and had held the position for a while. Stugs and 88s soon spawned and when my H39 got toasted I decided to respawn as a mortar (my new favourite weapon).
Upon spawning I was delighted to find the UMS only 500m from town. I found myself a decent bush behind a small ridge to hide myself from town and began firing into the AB. After firing my ten rounds of HE I was then waiting for resupply from the truck so progess at first was slow.
As the attack gained pace a few rifles resupplied me as they ran past which greatly increased my rate of fire, it also drew attention to the UMS though as more people began spawning. More mortars joined me and we had a good 3 man team pouring death into the AB.
This seemed to draw some attention though and we soon had a 232 flanking our position. When the truck was destroyed we fled from the hail of mg fire. I was the only one who managed to survive, and although slighlty injured made my way to another truck which began to resupply me.

Once again after a time I was joined by yet more mortarman and this time 2 rifles who were prepared to resupply us, a big thanks to dubane and snowy for that. A sapper made his way for our position but I pulled out my rifle and killed him first shot.
Our hellish barrage forced the LW to get invovled. After several near misses a 250kg bomb landed near the truck and blew it to pieces. Once again I survived and after firing the rest of my ammo made my way into town. We were starting to take control of the town and after finding myself a good building overlooking the AB I sniped a few more infantry untill the town was ours.
I was over the moon to find out later I had damaged 111 units and killed 25 outright, including 10 bofors, 3 88s, many 37mm and even a panzer 2C."

Hauptman Bagir reported: " Light bomber Bristol Blenheim Mk. IV was killed from LMG at the defendind Jodoigne-Wavre FB. At this moment I take duty on this FB alone, so nobody else can take part in this kill.

Aclinal low-flying (altitude was about 30-60 m) aircraft was pelted from light machine gun.
First clip I began spend on him when he was about 150-200 m from me. Then I quickly reload LMG and half of the second clip be able to sock to his potbelly and left engine. His engine send out grey smoke, and after 100-200 m from FB plane crash down to the ground."

QM Sergeant Lowe reported on january 3rd: " Following the orders of the OC 11th Hussars, M0rdsith, I moved a M1 ATG north of the town of Menen from the Roulers depot. Unsure whether I would be facing infantry or armour I moved up the road, keeping to the hedgeline.
Several times I stopped to face over to the East of the North-South road as I heard the tracks of Panzers, however I did not spot any vehicles. Continuing to move along the road, I spotted a Panzer tank to the North on the roadway. Quickly I deployed and sent several roads his way, but he manouvered quickly out of my Line of Sight by moving out to the East. I moved North until I was almost a kilometer North of Menen & deployed facing West.
My first kill came when an Opel, hauling a PAK gun came careering down the West flank from the Forward Base. My first three shots missed, and I knew he would soon be out of my guns traverse arc, so I shifted the gun further and opened fire with a HE shell. Thinking I had missed, I was about to prepare to move on in case they came to hunt me down, when the Opel exploded & the ATG tried to set up to aim at my position. I managed to silence the PAK gun, as a 232 also came speeding down the Western flank. A single hit from a HE shell on its rear made it explode, sending its smoking hulk rolling amongst the hedges.
Turning North, I moved further up the bushline by a hundred meters and set myself up once again as a few tanks came down the flank at intervals. The first took a shell to its turret, sparks showering the sky, whilst the second shell blew off its tracks, sending it spinning into trees. The next tank was upon the roadway, and took three shots to disable it.
A few moments later an Opel came down the roadway. Having set up, I waited a few moments for it to enter the guns sights and at 50m I blew it apart with a HE shell. The wreck dragged its cargo of a PAK gun into the hedgeline, and I quickly moved to place several shells into its crew & the gun itself.
Running low on ammo, I retreated further amongst the bushes and put out a request for ammunition, which was answered by Dabinsky in a Laffly truck. Once I had rearmed from him, I moved to cover the West flank again as a few tanks moved south from the FB.
For the next while I continued to put tanks & opels out of action, until another 232 took shells to its turret that did not kill its gunner, and managed to shoot my Observer.
Unperturbed I stayed at my position, manning the gun, and finally made the 232 a wreck.
Unfortunatly another Panzer appeared out to my West and whilst I dealt with his gunner with a few aimed shots, his hullgunner opened fire at me and I abandoned the gun."

Major Gefa, French army: " Launois was pretty blocked from east with 15 panzers pounding defencive allied positions. After 2 failed attempts to establish a def Atg position I decided a long drive from Chilly to cut off the storm of panzers out of eastern fb. Evaded succesfully ea cover and reached east road from north after 14 mins drive. Walked another 1km and found a perfect spot facing SSW with ideal concealment. An unsuspected Stug III B was the first victim to my atg."

The battle of Namur

Oberfeldwebl Johnnyza, reported from the battle of Namur: " After setting off from the FB with KGW, the Panzer colomn set up NE overlooking the NE Army base to interdict moving supplys. Within 3 minutes i had lost both tracks, my commander, driver, 4th and engine dead. Managing to protect 3 MSP's and infantry for over 50 minutes, i had been sapped, grenaded and shelled heavily, but yet still held out to support more infantry advance to get the East CP. Called it a night when all my ammo had drained out and no mobile spawns we're near.
Props to everyone at Namur who had a good fight S!"

Making a stand at Lier

Colour Sergeant Lowe reported: " Leaving the Barracks I recieved a fleshwound, and turning South, spotted a sniper high in the church tower. Setting my sights to 300m, I hit him with my second shot.
Moving out of the Army Base through the East murder hole, I spotted an Axis soldier, who recieved a bullet from my rifle to his chest.
Heading South, I managed to creep up upon two riflemen in the top of the red brick building to the SE of the Army Base, and despatched both with rifle shots.
Moving across the road to the South, I approached a house and set myself up at a window. Spotting a lone Axis soldier coming out of a sidestreet I shot him, and moved quickly towards the City CP. Finding it empty I began to cap the CP when I spotted an Axis soldier looking directly at me.
Dropping to the ground, the CPs cap bar disappeared as I moved too far from the radio. Leaving the CP by the South door, I ran across the road and into the Church, looking for my would-be assailant.
Climbing the church tower, I found him laying at the top, looking directly over our Army Base. I finished him with my combat knife, and sighted my rifle at an MG34 that had been set up in the red brick building in which I had already killed two Axis soldiers.

I hit the machinegunner with my second bullet and left the church, heading for the houses that flanked the Southern part of the East-West road. There I pciked off several more Axis soldiers before leaving for the South-Western Control Point (Leir-Antwerp). Just as we had captured the CP, my soldier recieved another wound and the fellow infantryman inside the CP was shot by an Axis soldier with an MP40. I dispatched him with my rifle, shooting him in the gut.
Feeling that my mission had been completed, removing those sniping into the base & recapturing a CP, I returned to base."

AHC calls for a retreat

MrToad reported from the frontlines: " At 12:30 Eastern, The AHC in charge desides with a new brilliant strategy. Pull away from EVERY front line town so that Axis can only softcap, but the Axis wouldn't be able to place a Hard AO first, so the game would stop."

Despite some eyebrows beeing raised on both sides and allied soldiers trying to convince the allied commander that the strategy would not work the frontline was left undefended and while british and french brigades rushed westwards, away from the enemy, the Wehrmacht kept in contact pursuing the fleeing units. With the taking of Solesmes and the Zeelands the AHC had lost some strong areas that would be hard to regain. Read the thread AHC Town Giveaway Program ( 1 2 )

Despite the town being 20km from an axis airfield, the allies had achieved total air dominance so it was difficult to avoid the horde of enemy fighters."

Still problems with brigades, chat and spawning in

The maintenance today did not fix the problems some are experiencing. For days and weeks players have tried fiddling with the settings to make it into the game and there is still no official word from CRS apart that it is the players connection that is the problem. So there's still more people reading the Community support section (24) then the Barracks (13) which is not common (48 in OT reading about KFS1 post on Motormouths love for droids).
To logg into the game is no problem, you choose your persona and then wait on the Order of the battle to appear, so far so good althou it takes a while longer then it usually does. Then to choose a brigade doesn't work with a righ-click on the map so you have to highlight the brigade on the order of battle and then click Brigade HQ, it doesn't work either. If you reboot the game a couple of times you can about 1/10 of the times make it into the Brigade HQ and choose a mission, the same problem with the missions as the brigade selection occurs and if you are really lucky you can spawn in only to experience that chat doesn't work and that after a while you lose your connection to chat and after a while CTD.
So judging by the forums and the lack of players in-game we eagerly await an official respons from CRS on what's up. In the meanwhile other MMO's are up and running with no problems to connect to at all.

About the CTDs and missions pending

For some the massive outbreak of mission pendings and crash to desktops started a couple of weeks ago and some over a month ago. Yours truly experienced problems with the connection to CRS's game server three weeks ago, starting with the "mission pending" bug, followed by the occasional crash to desktop and Bloo commented in the Barracks that it was the players connection, not CRS that was at fault. The problem is that no other of the MMO's experienced the problems and when you run 2 accounts on the same computer, one could get the problems and the other working just fine. With no official statement other then it was a clientsided problem (the customers fault) the chat in-game and the forums have been cluttered with questions on what is going on and why they can't play.

Bloo, Director of Playnet Customer Support: " These two are connection related. Connecting to the game is actually connecting to several 'servers' or host processes. When you see those, one of those connections is having a problem. This is the same thing when you see the locked personas - one of the servers has lost connection with your persona.
These are issues we continually work to improve but they don't effect everyone and there are many intermediary points of potential complications on the route between our game servers and your desktop.
We always try to address many issues with each patch."

Yours truly (Svedala) spent hours on brigade selection screen yesterday trying to get in, once in with primary server, there was no chat and it ended in a CTD. Today we at least got some word that someone will look into it., KFS1 will look into it.

The area was crawling with infantry and within minutes I bagged one I saw run into a hedgerow; rifled from about 10 foot away while he was paying no attention to the area he'd just ran into. I'd even tossed two grenades at him on approach and he didn't think they were meant for him I guess.
I settled down and decided to wait for anything coming into my area to kill.
The second was a guy I saw running across the north road and gave chase two. He went into one of those tree areas with the berms around them. As I was setting up for the shot he turned and noticed me. I fired and missed, he returned fire and missed also. I dropped to the ground and slew to the right and lost sight of him. I went around a tree and he fired at me again from about 5 feet away and missed. I dropped again and lost him. I hid in a bush and watched him walk right by me, took careful aim and... nothing, I'd fired my last round and never reloaded. I came out of the bushes just as he turned and dropped to the ground. He'd fired again and missed me as I dropped.
This time he dropped too and took aim at me. I kept slewing left, fumbling for my knife and managed to throw two smoke grenades. I finally got the knife selected and did a lil sprint/hop on top of him and ended it. Wild.
The third was again running across a field in the open and I fired, missing. He dropped, waiting then turned and ran right towards me. I fired with him about 10 feet away.
A few minutes later I moved to a new position and arrived too late to watch a 232 get sapped. I missed the sapper and moved to cover another nearby 232. While I was watching his back I was killed by a LMG from a distance. All in all a good mission, very enjoyable."

Zebbeee have made suggestions to improve the architecture of the user interface and some basics gameplay modifications for v 1.32 (1.31 is soon in beta).

Features presented here are either ideas gathered/selected from community discussions or designed by myself . These try to take into consideration developers’ long-term vision for the gameplay , while exploiting existing code parts as much as possible or using similar approaches. I leave pictures free of copyrights but please don't forget to mention where it comes from. This study only focused on a few menus to introduce the new architecture logics : the side HQ screen , the platoon HQ, and the brigade HQ, which are the main screens used to find action and deploy.

New mission categories, mercenaries, platoon and squad missions.
Missions no longer have a fixed origin
Platoon can no longer be joined once it left ready room
MSPs are tied to brigade instead of missions

The fall of Jodoigne

On November the 14th, the battle of Jodoigne commenced. With the german troops overrunned in minutes and french troops well prepared, turned the town into a graveyard. While allied fighter and bomber pilots constantly strafed and bombed the arriving german troops, preventing them from setting up a sucessfull defence and fresh french troops arriving to keep up the pressure on the depots, a column of tanks headed towards the town from northwest sealin the deal.

Several times the german defenders managed to repell the onslaught and liberate the depots but soon theyfound themselves locked down in the barracks and bunker at the Armybase surrounded by enemy tanks. The floors of the baracks were soon full of dead german soldiers as the tanks started to close in on the doors. The whole battle was one of the most intense infantry battles in a long time with no more then a few squares within the depots and baracks as a safe starting point. Combat air patrol

Aircraft: Supermarine Spitfire Mk. Ia "Z-K-L"
Mission Type: Combat Air Patrol
Airfield: Maubeuge Aerodrome, France
Date: 5th of November 1939

I Took off from Maubeuge Aerodrome in the late morning to conduct a combat air patrol between Brussels and Antwerp - both having been subject to axis probing attacks throughout the day. Leveling off at angels 10 I headed north east and arrived at Brussels a short time later, at which point I began a standard patrol patern, lasting some 5 minutes, after which I noted a Junkers Ju-87 Stuka below my starboard Wing at an altitude of what I aproximate to be between angels 03 and angels 05.
Believing that the enemy Stuka was preparing to dive upon our ground forces - and in keeping with my specific orders of conducting a combat air patrol - I dove upon the German machine with zest, scoring multiple hits on his rear and wing root area as he began to dive upon Evere Airfield on the outskirts of Brussels, it is at this point that the Jerry machine came under anti-aircraft fire from the Airfield defence Batteries, subsequently losing its port wing during its and crashing to the ground aflame.

I am unclear at present as to the cause of the enemy aircraft's destruction, being either a result of damage sustained from my attack or being due to the fire from the ground defences.

Having regained altitude after my attack on the enemy Stuka I was then vectored by control towards Bergen op Zoom to assist a Royal Navy destroyer squadron, which had found itself under attack by enemy aircraft whilst trying to conduct a naval blockade of the town.
Upon reaching the Oosterschelde estuary I noted the British Destroyers below me and identified another Junkers Ju-87 Stuka attempting to attack the blockading ships, as such I dove upon the enemy craft, resulting in a number of slashing attacks at low altitude until the Hun was eventualy downed by my machinegun fire on the outskirts of town.

Leveling off at angels 05 over the estuary, I considered my ammunition usage in the previous two engagements and decided it best to return to base due to my being low on ammunition - it was at this point however that I identified a flight of two Messerschmitt Bf 109E-4s above me at between angels 10 and angels 15 to the south east, presumably the late escort flight of the previously engaged Stuka - or otherwise a fighter intercept called by the Stuka for assistance shortly before it's demise.
Being at a clear disadvantage in numbers, altitude and ammunition, I decided the best course of action would be to dive to wave height and attempt to escape west towards the Allied airfield at Vlissingen.

I was however unable to dive away from the enemy before they were able to identify me, resulting in them both diving to attack me, as such I was forced to break a number of times during my escape to throw off the enemy aim, I also aggressively countered a number of dives by turning on the enemy and expending my remaining 60 - 80 rounds of ammunition.
Having defended myself against a number of attacks I had managed to disuade one of the enemy Pilots from continuing his course of action, leaving me with one remaining Jerry 109, who was finaly persuaded to turn for home upon encountering stiff anti-aircraft defences around Vlissingen Harbour, as such I was clear to land at Vlissingen Airfield and finish my flight with no damage to my own Aircraft.

War over! Allies win at Ratinger!

(FTF) When the 1st Armour Brigade and Special Air Service from the 1st Infantry Division, BEF along with 101 r Escadron de Reconnaissance, FAF moved into the captured town of Ratinger after a long hard fight with the remains of 2. Panzerdivision, Allied vitory was declared.
Heavy fighting continued in Essen and Duisburg as the last Kampfgruppes of 2. and 4. Panzerdivisions called for a last stand.
Commander in Chief of the Allies GreatOne took a few seconds from his work with finishing his moves around Ratinger:
FTF: " So how does it feel, finishing your term with a win?"
GreatOne: " Not bad I suppose. No, it feels awesome now that I get to retire and enjoy myself once again. I'd like to thank all the players for a great campaign!"

Feldwebel Acegacek, 91st Sturmbattalion: " Two FW190's lift from Theux Airfield in Verviers to patrol the sector between Havelenge and Wellin. Both Sgt Maj Acegacek and Sgt Maj Signasty started Boom and Zooming enemy planes over Havelenge. Soon after enemy aircraft presence disappeared and we took a few minutes to cool engines and get altitude. While flying over Havelenge, we came across a 109 pilot fighting with a Spitfire and show up as insurance for the 109 pilot, Capt Hopper57. The Spitfire came crashing down shortly after a chase that took us to Andenne, where the Spitfire's life ended. We took the time to gain altitude and speed before coming back to Havelenge. When we got back, three more bogey's came up. A Hurricane IIb and two Spitfire V's came into range. A 3v3 dogfight ensued but the Luftwaffe pilots had a speed and altitude advantage. Sgt Maj Acegacek took out the first spitfire and he went flaming to the ground. Shortly after the second Spitfire came crashing down thanks to Capt Hopper57 . With only the Hurricane pilot remaining on the deck, all three of us start toying with him before Sgt Maj Signasty ended is torment. Three RAF planes went down in less than five minutes due to superior German tactics and teamwork.After staying above Havelenge and Ciney for 30 minutes, we head to Wellin to secure the area. Shortly after arrival, enemy aircraft presence deceased. The 190's now, after a long sortie, had to work their way back to Betrix for fuel. On the way, Sgt Maj Acegacek got word of a Hawk 87-b3 harrasing ground troops outside Sedan. Making a solo flight to Sedan, the Hawk was sighted quickly due to his non stop strafing of ground targets. With both speed and altitude advantage, the FW190 toyed with the Hawk pilot, who was hugging his beloved AAA at Sedan. Shortly after the Hawk left his AAA protection, the 190 pounced and set the Hawk on fire. It was time to return to base after cannon ammo and fuel nearing empty.All three pilots returned to base with little to no damage.!S to all three pilots of the 91st Luftwaffe Squadron. Feldwebel Acegacek-3 Kills, RTB, Feldwebel Signasty-1 Kill, RTB, HAuptmann Hopper57-2 Kills, RTB."

The taking of a forward base

Oberfeldwebel Khitan: " Tonight we were on an op to blow up a forward base that was being used to support an attack on one of our towns. We worked as a tight unit, all orders coming directly from the on-side commander. We had three sappers and a 50mm AT gun, just barely enough to do the job. I was manning the AT gun, and it got a little hairy. The gun was hidden in some tall bushes, and several tanks came very close to me, one was as close as 15 meters as it passed me driving down the road. In all cases I was ordered to let the tank pass. If they knew we were there we would have blown the mission.We waited for night to fall, then moved into position. The sappers approached the target while I maneuvered to have a good shot on their base.As they started to lay charges an enemy soldier appeared, and killed one of our team. He had already spend his explosives, so we were still good to go. All we needed was four more charges to blow the base. One of the team got a bead on the enemy soldier and took him out. Suddenly it was a race of time. A tank appeared in the base. But it was too late. Our commander was laying that last four charges on the base, and it blew sky high.Victory was ours :)"

Recruit Ocidean, RAF reports from the skies: " Took off from Cambrai AF and started my ascent to approx 2500m high. On my way to my target (Chimay SAB veh spawn) I encountered a 109 at around 3500m up. Diving on me I climbed while spinning my hurricane, the 09 let off a short burst that sailed below me. the 09 however did not climb back up but circled to the right, with my slightly higher elevation i decided to try turn into the 09. it worked and soon I was on his 6 as both of us did a descending spiral. I was however about 300-500m behind him, that with the fact both of us where turning to our best ability made me hesitant on using my 360 cannon rounds as I thought it a waist(I did manage to shoot off 16 cannon rounds when i was in a more favourable position in the downward spiral). eventually I lost sight of the 09 below me somewhere. I looked to my sides, above me, my 6 and slewed my plane to look below me. I could find him, I concluded that he probably despawned. So I started to climb and head yet again towards my target. After about a minute I checked the map and noticed a Yellow square on me so i looked around, on checking my right side of my 6 (5+3) I saw a gray 09 about 50m away flying parallel (slightly to the right) with me. I almost panicked but noticed he wasn?t exactly going for me, so I pulled right and up on the stick and saw him do the same in sync. He then passed overhead and into the front of me till he was about 100m ahead of me and waived his plane left and right (I must admit I was tempted to shoot at him for some points towards my rank). We then flew our separate ways. me to chimay and him SE'ish. finally coming to my target at about 2000m (and seeing 1 09's on the deck and one grey @ 1000m). I turned my plane upside down and pulled back on the stick till I was at a decent degrees, dropping my bombs at around 600-800m and just managing to pull out of the dive while blacked out. Once I recovered I checked around me and tried latching onto the 09's 6 as we passed each other (the grey was a 09 which was still above me). We passed each other again only this time getting in a short burst each, not sure if mine hit but I heard a few pings on my hurr. I turned in to the 09 and ended up on his 6, but he was further than 1k out so I decided to look for the other 09. failing to find him until I had a burst on me that injured my pilot. fighting to control the plane to try ditch on the ground, his second burst took off my left wing. I spun out and crashed.
Anyway good fight solo, maybe next time ill be a little more trigger happy."

Tanking teamwork works

Lieutenant Firefly7 reports: " I spawned a sherman M4 from the Ronse-Brakel Fb, and proceeded to roll towards the town of Brakel (Allied defense then Axis capped after battle. I figured there would still be some leftover enemy tanks that were heading towards our FB after their victory, but as i got closer, the terrain got interesting and i realized this would be a really fun place for a tank battle.

Then i get a PM from Plectii, who was another sherm in the area. We were both laying low for a while, and he kept relaying me info about anything coming out of the town or anything that was around us, as i did for him. After an opel or two, and killing a couple ei, he reported a panzer was closing in on us. A stuart had gone up the hill that i was underneath, as i figured it would be a good ambush point. After a little bit, I started getting pounded by something to my right. I never saw what it was until it stopped firing, as neither of us could kill each other for 20 seconds of firing. I finally recognized it as a pz4g, and it despawned. After a while of changing positions, i killed a stug that plectii had reported, and was engaged with it. Throughout this sortie we were both letting each other know what the hell was going on, and he saved my life a few times, reporting a sapper in the area :)

After a while, plectii reported a tiger, and eventually we realized that we had been fairly well exposed. A sapper and the tiger eventually got plectii, and i almost got killed by a sapper after i saw him over a small ridge close near me. After killing a couple opels, i was finally caught off guard shooting one of the opels and got sapped out of my mind, by Tootalll, who caught me at the exact right moment for him hehe :)

It was really fun though, working as a team with even one other player, so i hope to do this more with squadies and people who happen to be in the area in the future :)"

Oberfeldwebel Bodies reported from the frontline: " The cheeky French had set up a precamp on the East side of Oudenaarde. I snook out of town up the bushes, French SMGs were nearly tripping over me. I held fire. Made it to the Hill top and there was a neat line of 3inch M5 ATGS and a Bofors pulverising our AB. Decided nades were the best way to deal with them. Energy up, I rushed out, dropping nades at the feet of them one by one. Luckily the bofors was looking skyward as I dumped one on him too. Not looking back I made it to a bushline and what do you know - 3 more M5s appear. I dump the remainder of my nades on them and gun the last two. Can't remember killing a SMG but a hidden Bofors, gunned by Poobin, smote me good.
They got the town in the end - had lots more stuff in place."

Leutnant Uwke reports: " After exiting the Opel, I began to mark distances and landmarks and proceeded to a safe location to begin my assault. After locating a position about 450m SE of the AB, a few rifleman dropped off more rounds so I could begin my attack. Starting with some smoke to assist my ammo suppliers, I began to drop HE rounds into and around the base. Shortly after I was depleted on my HE so I located a rifle and began a standard attack. After completion of my assault when I was severely wounded I tallied the following; A big thank you to the one who pulled me from the battlefield to I could fight again."

Started Aug 11, 2009 in a DB7 from Brussels. Ended with 0 kills and 0 captures.

"Northern Whirlwind" took part in a small unescorted high altitude single bomber raid to bomb the newly repaired Rhenania-Ossag Oil Refinery in the city of Dusseldorf, Germany.
No enemy aircraft were encountered en-route to the target, light anti-aircraft fire was encountered over the target area.
The bomb run was made in the day with medium cloud over the target, BDA reports that the factory took light damage during the attack and will require further sorties.
The squadron returned to Evere Airfield and landed, no casualties.

Oberstleutnant Dinker wins top trucker trophy

Campaign 53 ended with an Axis victory, the british and french down to a handful of cities on the western coast of France and with the british islands intact, the Axis kept trying for Deal to gain a foothold but could not manage it. The last Junker for England ended up with no wings over the shores of deal while half the load of fallschirmsjagers managed to capture townhall but nothing more. At the and of the day thou OKA could see that their forces managed an overwhelming victory and preperations for the next campaign are underway during the following two days vacation on the shores of the english channel. One of the cornerstones of the campaign is always the trucker. This campaign Oberstleutnant Dinker, 3rd Panzergruppe, 2. Panzerdivision managed 515 sorties with 140 returned to base and a staggering 5855 minutes on mission, placing him #9 of the total time spent on the battlefield (1590 sorties). He used countless SdKfz 7 and opels to ferry troops and equiptment to the front and for that, we salute him and all who spent time providing this service to the troops!

In total Campaign 53 saw 1,427,293 sorties, 801,844 kills and 32,108 captures.

I was commanding paratrooper operations in the south,hoping to cause some pain to the axis forces and draw some forces away.Thanks to Sircuddles for his scary yet successful drops,we had taken Roye behind enemy lines,and where now working on bouthir *or whatever the town is* im hoiding in bouthier on the church watching for enemy paras,and i hear a opel!So the opel drives into the church,and i run down and shoot the driver three times,then throw a grenade at it.It turns out a EI was riding the opel,and he jumped out right onto my grenade.After that odd experiance,i go back to the church atching for enemy paratroopers,and got back to commanding the assaults.(btw,thanks to Jeremy,my 2nd in command for that battle,and sircuddles for flying those paratroopers,haha for stating the obvious every to seconds,and finally for pilbrow for dieing even when there was no enemies around,everytime.

The fight for St. Truiden

Unterleutnant Devilmutt reported from the battle of St. Truiden: " The call came out for sappers on the St.Truiden - Hasselt FB as Hasselt was under allied attack. I reported for duty to find only 3 sappers in the supply. I'm sorry that I do not recall the squad leader's name at the time of this report. The leader and I went for the inf bunker and got 8 charges on it. A third squaddie hit the veh and took it down. I did not understand at the time why the fb was still up. As we were returning to the opel for supplies we came under Allied infantry fire. My squad leader and other member were killed.

I laid low for awhile killing one infantryman that came close to me. I was out of charges and a Panhard destroyed our opel. I thought what do I do...stay and harras ATG's and Laffy's leaving the FB? A new squaddie Pariah2x pm'ed me asking if the fb was clear. He was a sniper, as I told him of the situation he went above and beyond driving an opel into the enemy FB to supply me. I got a charge on the inf and came under enemy infantry fire. As I took cover pariah2x was killed. I made a break for the supply stockpile as Pentamon informed me that it had to be destroyed via pm. Pentamon, this is a guy who does not know me and goes out of his way to give me the 411 on the situation, Salute to you sir.
While under fire I was able to get 2 charges on the stockpile and my last charge on the Vehicle Tent. Boom went the Allied FB. As a closing present I took down one of the Allied machine gunners before I RTB'd."

Oberstleutnant Loonie left the forward base of Chaumont-Rethel 19:05 june 30th 2009 in order to defend the approach to Chaumont and Wehrmachts build-up of offensivee actions against the french held town of Rethel. During the mission that lasted two hours and ten minutes, Loonie and his crew managed to take out 116 enemy targets. At the and of the mission the young Oberstleutnant returned to base in his PzKpfw IIIf and claimed 113 infantry, 2 laffly and one atg kills.

Sgt Tharival , reported from the front: C.O. Bluekill surveyed the town through his bino's and nodded slowly, "There it is. The CP we need to capture." He pointed towards the north and I could clearly see the German flag waving in the breeze. "How many do we have with us, sir?" I asked quietly. Blue looked back at me with camoflauge paint distorting his facial features, then back towards the objective. "As far as I know, command only sent a small team of raiders to do this mission. In pairs, we'll attack the German's and capture the strategic points on the map."
He nodded towards the CP, "We'll be hitting this one." "Ready when you are, sir." I said quietly, looking around the trees and brush. Blue smiled and racked the slide back on his SMG. The reassuring 'chink' of a round being chambered was all that needed to be said between us to move forward. The building grew large in our sights and we stopped, taking position only a stones throw away from it. Blue listened intently, his eyes squinted and from experience I knew that he was sensing that something was wrong. He signaled me to deploy my LMG and he'd flank the building to see if anybody was inside.
Blue ran quietly into the street, circled the building and approached carefully. I watched him methodically scan his surroundings and then he froze. The look of an animal who had been spotted spread across his face and he shouldered his SMG. Silence, quiet.

Corporal Tharival reports from the battlefield: " As soon as my boots hit the deck I was off at a dead run towards the enemy held town of Achel. Along with about 6 other men, I ran to a nearby enemy held building in time to hear the angry bursts of SMG's, Rifles, and LMG's. The shots were frightening compared to the relative peaceful day we were having, but I never became lax in a firefight. My body immediately pressed against a wall and the other men did the same as we rounded the first corner and then the next...bodies lay everywhere, friendly and enemy. Nobody was left, they had all shot each other down. Quickly, without words, we realized we needed to defend the building from a counterattack. Capturing this building would lead to other captures and increase the morale of our troops. As we defended enemy troops ran inside, only to be cut down by our accurate fire. Now supported by our tanks from outside, no infantry could enter without being ripped apart by heavy machine guns. The enemy attack slowed to a stop and we remained to capture the bunker as well. Tanks supported by infantry, I learned, is a beautiful sight indeed."

Flying CAS low over Roosdaal. Luftwaffe fighters were keeping EA preoccupied. Used below-rear gunner to spot targets. Dropped 1-2 bombs at a time. Ground situation was very confusing; buildings made bombing armor even more difficult. Unsuccessfully bombed a Char and S35, bombed two other green contacts; Those must have been the Pans. Sustained a hit from an ET cannon; No significant damage.
Heinkel 111 from Gilze. Ended with 4 kills.

Flying CAS low over Roosdaal. Dropped some bombs on west CP. There was an ET west outside of town firing at my plane. Was hit, but no serious damage. After another bombing run, rolled my He111 too low, and hit a tree.

CAS over Roosendaal with He111. Flying low over town; made it to target fine, but Luftwaffe support was lacking and AA was also inadequate. Tried to bomb north CP several times, every time there was a fighter diving in. Our AA guns at the AA were really disappointing. Once again, allied fighters have the luxury of being low and slow over target; and that is what matters in this game.

Was BARCAP'ing the airfield south of Roosendaal, missed two bounces primarily because I'll still used to the fw190, and compression was a serious issue diving from 3k on to a plane. Saw "bigwoody" down low with a hawk and another EA; I tangled a bit there scoring a cannon hit on one hawk, when I saw a spitfire 500m below returning from target. 300m off, wasted much cannon but scored hits and white smoke-trail; He made it to enemy AAA, and I broke off west. D520 dived on me, I evaded once, twice, and continued east. D520 stll on my long six, was running for home when I lost connection exactly as I received a few plinks.

Last week, the 101st lost a member of our squad. Reb400 passed away. He was a great squad mate, always fun to talk to, always willing to help out. He had a deep southern twang to his voice, unmistakable when he logged into teamspeak. He had been in a lot of pain the last year and he wasn't able to play as much. Reb loved the game, loved to fly, loved to tank, and loved to play aside his squad mates. The 101st has lost a great squad mate and the game has lost a great player.

Private Oam47, Luftwaffe, reported from the huge paradrop: " I almost missed the plane. One of the last out. Dropped with 5-6 or so other people (of over 150) W of the Army base. Quickly ran up to the gate and along with two tanks proceeded to rack up kills. Eventualy a Laffly drove up and blew up in the gate to stop our fire. After it was destroyed completly I died from the lined up enemies."

Major Somuee, FAF took the trusty old Char B1 Bis tank for an staggering 11mph ride, leaving the Hallschlag Armybase in an orderly fashion in order to suppor the Allies effort in the area when Hauptmann Skom, Luftwaffe came screaming down from the sun in his Bf110C4/B, althou Skom did not make it back to the offiziers messhall at Kornelimunster Airfield, Soumee along with a laffly and a bofors suffered a KIA as well.

Hauptman Sabot1 reported from the battle: " An epic battle unfolded for the city of Albert. Members of the 3rd panzer organized and led the assault on the town. A mass of armor positioned itself in a crecent around the town effectively limiting external ground reinforcements, and inflicting heavy losses on those who tried. The town quickly fell except for the final Depot. A raging battle ensued as assaults and counter assaults tore through the remnents of the town. Allied air power flexed its muscle to attempt and break the siege, but the attackers would not give up. After 1 1/2 hours, the final allied presence was finally removed.Creative interdiction of allied reinforcements and disrupting assaults on allied FB positions bought the time to needed for the assaulting forces to achieve this victory."

He acted as the PB should when requested for help and carried out each duty with perfection. Three active FBs in total. I award you the FB Destroying Ribbon.

Secondly, for Mifsud01. This guy defending the CPs in Peronne when I called for defensive shield to go up when most others ran past the CPs leaving them vulnerable. He stayed there until after the battle was over and even when I, myself logged off. He is rewarded for his defensive duties and duties to the Allied defense. I award you the Axis Denied Knight Cross. Hotfink: " I just heard about Summala the other day. I loved flying with him as LW. He was a great Pilot and I am gonna miss him alot. I have one really fond memmory of summala. One day out of boredome we got on the training server and was doing a little practice and was playing around. we decided to play some chicken under bridges for fun. We rammed eachother multiple times and he kept winning and not exploding and not taking any damage whatsover. He was chattin on TS claiming that he was the "Master" .
I am really gonna miss him 1st as a friend 2nd as a Commrad 3rd as a Great Pilot.

Hauptmann Lurchy reported: " The sky was chock full of Allied air so a guy could not stick his head out of the ab to check the Allied spwn cap south end. I grabbed an LMG and made a mad dash for the w exit, jumping in a bush berm just in term as a tank near the entrance was bombed immediately after I ran. After a very conservative look around, barely popping my head above the berm, I confirmed no ei immediate danger so I set up for the ea. One after another after another came in on us, all from different angles and heights. They were beating the crud out of the ab. But every once in a while some ea pilot would do me the pleasure of strafing from just the right angle and just the right height. On one of those occasions, I saw him coming in lead him a little, lined him up, and fired away walking along as he came closer. Thank you Mr. Spitfire Vb, I have never had a verified EA kill with infantry before, and the sound of the crash in the fb told me I had just taken you out."

Major Tempered reported: " So i decided to hang at Val for a few and we ended up having to try to knock off a few ei from taking down fb-I patiently ran into the Southern forest to try and take out the ums's which i had taken 1 out, Then saw a few of our tanks getting ambushed by atg's that seemed to spawn out of the woodwork! seriously! frigging ridiculous!Ended up spotting one and ran to it, then saw another and ran to it and so on and so on! So for about 87 minutes i was running around helping our convoy "being the scout" and taking out all the atg's with in a good distance and calling all contacts! by that time there must have been at least 10+ PZ's on my tail waiting for me to give the word to head into Reims !so i proceeded to run down that hill gunning down atg's while i was tripping over my boots and reloading the 15 bullets i had left and decided to capture the spawn in the South end!By the time i had left we had about 6+ PZ's rolling through the city and many boots running out of the CP!"

Kc23, ANZAC's posted in the Barracks: " The ANZACs are a day 1 Allied squad with good membership throughout its history with WW2Online. We had been very careful about recruiting in the past and the thought of auto-recruit was out of the question for many of us in Senior ANZAC positions.

A couple of wise Senior ANZACs brought up the idea of using auto-recruit recently and some of us immediatley rejected the idea. Worried about getting disruptive players that would ruin the squad I felt pretty strong about it. The idea was ejected.
Once again these same wise Senior ANZAC members brought it up and again I rejected it with a few others, but agreed to try it if they wanted to administrate it (ie deal with the jerks I was sure would come).

Now with egg on my face I am here to admit that the auto recruit is actually a quite effective recruiting tool that has gotten us over a half dozen excellent recruits in a short while. It seems to clearly have helped some of the newest players too by having an experienced squad to run with and learn from early on.

Version 1.29 of Battleground Europe went live on Tuesday the 25th of November. Changes to Tier 0, new training etc have been implemented. Also Vista users should listen to KFS1: " There's an update available for Windows Vista. If you have auto-update enabled, it will reboot your machine. It will pop-up a warning dialog before doing it but it doesn't appear infront of the game." Experience problems? Check out the Community support section for Windows or Macintosh.

(BE) With the fall of Germany in Campaign 48 the roles have been reversed for Campaign 49, Wehrmacht will go east and the Allies west, well that will be their objective of the campaign thou as the fronts have been shifted at the start of the campaign. At the same time as Wehrmacht will invade Germany and the french and british forces will invade France and England, CRS has launched a major trial offensive to get more players interested in Battleground Europe, over 1000 players have registred so be sure to logg in (Don't forget to adopt a greentag today) and participate in what can be a larger clash of forces then when Paratroopers were introduced.

Allies holds the factories

(October 31st - From the Front)

(FTF) On the second day of war it is clear that the Axis are in an akward position, without factories and cut in half with their main forces they are fighting for their lives. Wehrmacht decided to go for the Zeelands in the beginning of the campaign and beat their heads against the wall of Antwerp while the Allies encircled Luxembourg and took more and more links in the center and then managed to advance on all fronts bout the north. The Axis lost the map in 16 hours in what could be called a bold move but in retrospect a huge failure. OKW explains it with the fact that they have alot of new officers, the whole CinC staff was fired recently by CRS and more then a few left to joined the Allied side due to different reasons. On the second day of the campaign the war continues but the Axis are to divided to pose a serious threat to the Allies. One thing is sure thou, the Allies have yet to make a mistake this campaign and the Axis alot of thinking to do.

The Playskewls experience an over-pop of disgruntled Axis players as well as some Allieds who aren't happy with the current situation. But Cornered Rat Latham thinks differently as he posted in Playskewls: " The game and the HC's aren't in bad shape. Sometimes one side wins faster than the other. In this case you can see the evolution of the game first hand. The faster play, more intense play is the road it has taken.Regardless of win or lose, it was fun. Once the map gets reset the same kills and flag captures will happen with skill. It's fun just to play. No one likes to lose, and losing faster than normal isn't fun but the time spent in giving it a go was. Once the map is reset the same crowd regardless of side will give it a go again.So, no nothing is in bad shape, just evolved into quicker play. Have Fun!"

(BE) Campaign 48 have started and the first clashes with 6 attack objectives across the front have stood between Wehrmacht and the french forces and the focus have been in and around Luxemburg with 2. Kampfgruppe, 4. Panzerdivision as the defenders whom liberated the city three times within the two first hours against the french forces who enjoyed an initial 4 links and 3 potential spawnables and deployed the 12 Division d'Infanterie Motorisée and 5emé Division Nord-Africaine against them. At the same time The 5emé Division Nord-Africaine quickly charged up and took Grevenmacher (their 5th link) thru Saarburg with the 6e Régiment de Tirailleurs Marocains and continued the attack on Trier as of the time this was written.

The Battle of Luxemburg has begun

The British Expeditionary Forces have yet to see any real action but their 2nd Infantry Division have launched an attack on Aarschot. 1. Panzerdivision launched an assault on the french held town of Kalmthout versus the 1er Régiment, 1re Division d'Infanterie and at the time of this beeing printed the french Commander issued an Hold at all cost order. The major naval battles stood at Kamperland and Zandvliet.

Kilowolf, wondered about the criteria for calling yourself an Ace: " The 5 kill ace system doesnt really apply in this game since you can fly 1,000 missions, die every time you take off and still manage 5 a2a kills somewhere inthere. The 5 a2a kills in one mission is definitely harder, specially if you have to add an RTB to that mission but still not THAT rare. How does one qualify as an ACE in this game? And a second question, who would you say is the TOP ACE? When i started playing this game it was Bushman hands down IMO(or at least the only REALLY good fighter i knew off), but i think he stopped playing after the second year or maybe even earlier. Looked at this campaign and saw this guy! (Your sick dude! you are either a huge cheater or were born in the wrong time period)

Cornered Rat Doc give his 5 cents: " I would define it as 5 fighter kills in a single hop (no rearm) and RTB alive without losing the plane. Being an ace isn't supposed to be incredibly difficult, it's just not supposed to be easy. There were tons of pilots who got 5 kills in their wartime careers. I think this definition (in game terms) represents about the same level of difficulty, and retains the easily recognized 5 kills criteria."

I started recording data on the 10th of October - in dribs and drabs. There are a bunch of gaps, and other stuff that I was trying to figure out as I went. I ended up collecting around 2300 pictures collected every 5 minutes (generally) between the 10th and the end of Campaign 47."

(AHC) Lieutenant Hughie, French Army, reported " I've begun to appreciate the MAS, it is more stable when aimed, unlike the Enfield which sways too much for my liking. Both pack a punch though. This sorties was in defence of Netersheim. When I arrived on the scene it was confusing and frightening, with enemy armour approaching fast and their troops approaching from the north east. I managed to hit a couple of them at some range, and was then directed by my squadmates to two riflemen near my location. I came upon two soldiers in a wooded area firing sporadically on French troops on the town about 300 metres away. I dispached them easily; they were so intent upon their quarry they didn't hear me approach. When I checked them, one was a private, the other a recruit. They had done well to find a good location, but I had prevented them from causing any harm. I swung back to my previous location and killed two more troops, including a sniper, who had inflitrated deeper towards Nettersheim, before returning to the safety of my barracks."

(OKW) Unkel and Remagen, the twin towns in Germany found itself under attack from french forces who continued the advance deep into Germany today. The fight for Remagen raged for most of saturday and it was during nightfall in the 8th hour that the french forces gained the southeast depot and slowly, thanks to massive tank support pressed on within the city limits.

(FTF) There are several ways to promote Battleground Europe and your video creations. The easiest is Youtube, now known to the common man and used by everyone with a computer. Althou there are alot of Battleground Europe videos since 2006 it can be tough to get thru to the casual viewer competing with tv-series, WoW, AoC, CoD and lots of other stuff. There are users who just add videos they didn't create on their own and their ratings go thru the roof, look at cartoons such as Family guy and South park. It is therefore fun when Battleground Europe Directors such as Katonka enjoys a 30000 view over a weekend thanks to the Chinese market and such a video like Svedala's Relax made it to the #31 most linked on youtube on the day of release. Today Svedala ranked #46 on the most viewed Directors in Sweden, which is a good ranking considering the nische Battleground Europe is. Hopefully it brings in more players and spreads the word. Svedala is still waiting to recieve the buzzard camera so he can make even better videos. One day mabye.

There are more ways to get an audience for your videos. WorldTV offers a free service to put up your own channel with videos, uploaded directly to them or linked to youtube. Since the start, SEV TV have added 67 videos, mostly from Battleground Europe and all made by Svedala. The Internet TV channel have viewers from all over the world such as the United States, Sweden, Italy, United Kingdom, Egypt, Pakistan, Germany, Belgium, Brazil, Thailand, Morocco, Ecuador, Iran, Australia and Chile. With 1173 viewers the World TV channel now ranks #1 in Sweden on World TV.

All videos by Svedala are shoot on the live server (except "Ambush") so they are made under fire with fear of death :) Think about that the next time you watch one. On another note they are captured with fraps, edited in Magix Movie Edit Pro with screenshots worked over in Photofilter and Photostory 3. If you can get that package you will have a good start, althou Vegas is a better video editing program. It also helps if you have several accounts or 3 like Svedala to get different angels etc.

Allied forces at Kerpen

(October 24th - From the Front - Svedala)
(FTF) Yesterday, the Allied forces experienced pressure while loosing the towns of Metzervisse and Metz but regained confidence and strenght to push on and managed to punch a hole in the german line all the way up to Kerpen, dividing the 6. and 12. Armee and the whole Wehrmacht line of defence in chaos.

French and british forces managed to encircle and trap the whole 2. Panzerdivision in Schleiden with a complete cut off of Wehrmacht supplies. The three Kampfgruppes stood no chance defending their ground and tons of panzers, paks and flaks tried to breakout of their vehicle spawn but the whole Division was soon disbanded after a desperate last stand in the Armybase. British troops continued the fight along the Kerpen route and assaulted Bergheim sending in a tank coulmn on the south approach but was halted just hundred meters from the prize as flaks, panzers and half-tracks was lined up to take the armoured blow.

Leutnant Svenhoek and Unterleutnant Hundsvot left the Theux Airfield Oct 19 13:29 to provide CAS on the french held town of Manhay. Leutnant Svenhoek, Luftwaffe reports: " Bombing is fun-fun-fun! But the most irritating thing is that when the clever AA-gunner has placed his gun inside a fuel tank bunker he is almost invulnerable.
This is because ww2online does not create true three dimensional shockwaves. It sure is a sphere, but if there is something between you and the explosion, you are safe. The blastwave cannot travel around objects which sucks. It gives unrealistic safe havens for unskilled players and that is not good. When I deliver a 250kg explosive to an armybase there is no way anyone within a 50 meter radius could survive unharmed. Not even in armored vehicles, the pressure difference is so big that it will cause serious damage to any soldiers body."

Rifleman claims 33 kills at Andenne

(October 18th - Oberkommando das Heer)
(OKH) Oberstleutnant Berzerkr left the depot of Huy in Andenne at 22:25 on october the 3rd in order to liberate the town from the british forces. During the one hour long sortie, the rifleman managed to capture the Mayors house (city flag) and also kill 32 enemy infantry and destroy one Mle 38. Amongst the dead were two british high commanders, one with the rank of Brigadier General. After the sortie the Oberstleutnant returned to base.

Two weeks later, Oberstleutnant Berzerkr could account for 934 confirmed kills, 1187 damages and a k/d of 2.52. He has been recognized by the enemy as in this thread and ranked #2 rifleman in the last campaign. The veteran soldats record shows 560 sorties for Das Heer placing him as follows:

Was great fun tho... gotta work on an organized egress people got caught up in their own dogfights and couldn't rely on the mutual protection from the other 110's and that caused heavy casualties. We did meet with heavy resistance tho so I am very impressed with how the guys on mission handled themselves all the way to target... Good Job guys we should do even better next time."

(RAF) Lance Corporal Jougal reported: " I was lined up using the road into Remich for my 2nd sortie on the Remich Bridge and began my dive from 9k feet. Just after nosing over and getting a closer look at the target I spot a Panzer III turning onto the bridge. I could not believe my luck. Normally I drop both 500lbs bombs at the same time. This time I had to make an exception and dropped one at the end of the bridge and one in the middle. I hit the panzer and was over joyed as I pulled out of the dive for about 2.5 secs. It is with great sadness that I report the loss of one of our own; HC2

Army Sgt. William R. Howdeshell 37, of Norfolk, Va.; assigned to the 5th Squadron, 7th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division, Fort Stewart, Ga.; died July 26, 2007 in Saqlawiyah, Iraq, of wounds sustained when an improvised explosive device detonated near his vehicle.

While the events transpired at the end of July, we only found out through his wife yesterday after we tried to contact him through an old email address.

When you think of 'good guys', you think of Bill. He was a man of service and of honor - and for that, he commanded the respect of all who knew him.

Kommandeur Drakhl reported: " During the axis attack on Paal, I rolled a Pz 3h from the FB straight into town (against all my instincts no less). I parked in between some buildings and proceeded to mow down infantry. I will now tell you the story of how my little panzer survived an unbelieveable amount of damage. While sitting in this spot, I had a sapper run up to me and place one satchel, which did no damage. I decided to relocate to a safer position near the AB. While sitting near the AB gate I began to take ATR plinks from the spawnable depot, which I counted to be no less than 15, possibly even 20. When the ATRs were frustrated by my MGs, they began to roll out 57mm ATGs, from which I took three shots to my frontal armour before killing them off with AP and MG. No damage. While sitting here, a 500lber bomb dropped right next to me, shaking me with concussion and hitting hard with shrapnel. I thought I was dead, and was happy to see that my little panzer had taken no damage whatsoever.

Once the depot was captured, I rolled out of the AB after a report of an S-35 nearby. I engaged the S-35 at point blank range, taking a total of three rounds to the front before I killed him. No damage. I then relocated to a hull down position behind a steep berm. As soon as I arrived a char b1 engaged me from point blank range, who had been hiding in a bush nearby. It took approximately 12 shots into my front for me to locate him, as it was so close the tracer did not render before the explosion hit my tank. I turned my turret and engaged him, firing about 8 AP until I killed him.
While I sat there I was mortared repeatedly, as well as ATRed some more. My commander now dead I was blind, and a sapper managed to get all four of his charges on me. He then shot about 2-3 clips of ammunition into me in frustration before a friendly infantry killed him. After being ATRed, ATGed, shot by two ETs, bombed, strafed and sapped, I RTBed at Paal for a total of 16 kills. Kills included 3 ATGs, 2 ETs and 11 EI. I am invincible!"

Last stand at Remich

(OKH) Unterfeldwebel Kenki reported from Remich: " I join up in the naval river town of Sierck-les-Bains to liberate the town of Remich from enemy hands. We arrive on the scene and other then the enemy finishing thier captures we find the city oddly quiet other then sparce engagements. I leave the opel driver wielding my light machine gun. Wile most of the main force attacked the south end I flanked from the north and gained three captures seeing the occational corpse of a british soldier. I head near the dock when anouther opel driver appears but when I join him as he heads to the city instead of the east armybase which was my intent. Mean while Prt. Supremus captures the dock which was critcal in the defence of the town, I advance tword the east army base. As I cross the bridge I encounter enemy sniper fire, rather countless times, non-of which hit me but it was very unnerving. I send out communications about the sniper and a friendly tank comes, but as I was on a time limit I had to cross anyway and continued to take sniper fire as I headed east, south of my final target."

New Svedala video - Ambush

This video was done as a test on the Training server with 3 accounts to there's no other players. The computer used is not top notch, just a dual-core with 1.8 Ghz processor with 4 GB ram and Nvida Geforce 9500 GT with 1 GB ram. So that's 3 accounts running at the same time and on top of the fraps which really sucks up processor time capturing 25 frames per second. Wehn on the live server the fps for each account vary between 10-25 in a moderatly poluated area in town.

(AHC) Corporal Hither9 reported: " I was riding in a truck on the road to Hallschlag, daydreaming about my sweetheart back home, when BAM, all of the sudden, the Beddy blows a tire, and lands in the ditch sideways. I crawl out of the wreckage, miraculously unhurt, only to watch one of my mates get taken out by a german rifle right in front of my eyes. I was lucky enough to snap off a shot before Gerry could bring his rifle to bear on me. BANG, down goes the German rifleman.

I figure if there's one rifle around, there's probably more, so I break for the forest across the road. I sprint as fast as I can into the forest on the east side of the road. I threw myself down behind a bush as I spot a sniper moving towards my injured mates and the rolled truck. Somehow, he doesn't spot me, and as he's setting up in the bush I hid behind, I sneak up and BAM, square in the back, another German won't be fighting my mates and I anymore. I quickly regain my breath, and make another mad dash for a ditch ahead of me, hoping that my luck is better than Gerry's today.

It must be, as during my mad dash, I hear a LMG open up to my right, puffs of dust appear all around me, I look, and there in the middle of a clearing in the forest, is the LMG. I drop prone, take aim and fire. One shot, one kill. Made it into the ditch, where I rest up, adrenalin racing through me, unable to believe that I'm still in one peice. I poke my head over the edge of the ditch, and lo and behold, I see two germans sneaking along a distant ridgeline. I bring my trusty rifle to bear, and after trading shots with the two infantrymen, realize that I've bagged two more of Gerry's finest. I crawl towards the AB along the ditch, tracers from a MG tower zipping by just over my head. I make a break for a group of bushes, when BAM, I feel the most excruciating pain in my side. I realized that my luck had run out, but at least I had sent a handful of Gerrys best ahead of me to hell......"

Depot campers, the goldfarmers of Battleground Europe

Every game has them, the players that for one reason or another doesn't want to be a part of providing a good gaming enviroment for everyone and some games doesn't have that many who wants to provide and play by a sort of conduct that gives all a good gaming experience, fortunatly Battleground Europe has alot of teamplayers and generally just nice persons. You've seen it before it's in almost every game, goldfarmers making money buy selling something valuable in the game your playing. They're hated, some might like them for not having to grind for months to get a certain item or they just sell you a top notch account so you don't have to go thru the noob stage. They do make those items they sell by grinding, annoying and showing a total lack of respect, you've problably experienced it in World of Warcraft, Lord of the Rings online, Age of Conan and if you're fortunate not in Warhammer Online as they set out to destroy them, kudos to the developers!

Like the view? This can be yours for 50 sorties straight!

So what does goldfarming has to do with Battleground Europe? Well, nothing really, buying an account isn't really that interesting and you can't buy items or anything, it's a war, all you got is your skill and reputation, that's if you care about your missions and campaigns. What is the most annyoing thing in Battleground Europe? Apart from glitches, bugs the occasional cdt you might experience (might is the word here, not everyone suffers from it), I would have to go with depot campers, those who choose to remain inside a depot when it's captured and shoot everyone who spawns in. Mind that you are shot before beeing able to move or anything. Just because you can do it, you can choose not to. You don't have to follow a code of chivalry, just some common sense, if you can kill someone before they are able to move your just executing that players avatar and gaming experience. This should be a big no-no for the High Commands, un-fortunatly it's not.

So why bring up the subject? Well I was just pwnd twice
Sortie after a heroic coop capture of the spawnable in Diest. You go from heroic effort to beeing executed, you get somehwat pissed, and usually only goldfarmers get me pissed in MMO's. On the other hand I do not think it's wrong to kill vehicles in a firebase o armybase before they spawn in, that is the way you supress it, I would not go into the infantry spawn thou and if I am inside a barrack and they AB is lost, I leave it, even if I know it means certain death. Why, because you should always be able to spawn infantry, always have an option and also, infantry beeing the new players first option it is important that they get some good experience of the game and not just be experience points for som asshat who pads his statistics. Also if you let players spawn into a depot you will enjoy a good town fight with all the adrenaline rushes you need for a week to come. CRS currently have a poll when you logg into the gaming world, if you want depot campaing to go so vote yes for that and a better gaming experience.

(BEF) 2nd Lieutenant Sport20 reported: " As I sat in my seat on the C47, I couldn?t help but think about home. My mind drifted away from the mission and to my favorite pub back in Surrey. I could nearly taste the delicious cold ale on my lips when my thoughts were snapped back into focus as the jump leader, Shad0w64, had us stand up. We called out our equipment checks and latched our static cables to the wire humming over our heads. The plane shuddered as the door was flung open revealing nothing but darkness, propwash filling the cabin. Our pilot, Bartsass, expertly lined up on our final course, adjusting the throttles to idle to make our approach as silent as possible.

The DZ approached and I stepped towards the door, peering out at the faint lights of Virton in the distance to the south. As the platoon?s sniper, I was first out, to set up an covering position west of the infantry camp at the enemy forward base, which had been established between Virton and Longwy along the allied front. My parachute opened with a reassuring jolt, and I took account of my surroundings. A flak battery opened up below as the rest of the squad exited the aircraft, bright orange tracers drawing a line across the night sky. I was relieved to see each one of them with a good chute."

(CRS) Jester6, Trainer brought up the concentration of Chars in some attacks: " Just a friendly suggestion that CRS please look at the spawnlist numbers for Armoured brigades next map around. No whine, nothing, but a picture from in-game.Marche, 6 Chars circled in red. 2 more offscreen to the left. I managed to do some serious damage with my StuG: spawn, kill everything til no ammo despawn style; but eventually i died."

Cornered Rat Doc: " It's probably wise to remember this is localized, where before you had 30 something tanks in all 3 brigades under a division, now you have all your armour in 1 brigade out of every 3, and it's not as many tanks as you used to have in all your brigades combined.

Yes, where that one armoured brigade is operating will be a lot of tanks, concetrated. That was what was expected with an armoured brigade. Instead of 90 something tanks in 3 brigades, you now have about half that much in one brigade plus the handful i n the infantry brigades as armoured support. Infantry brigades have something like 5-7 tanks (not counting armoured cars and Vickers which act as armoured cars) but really, you have less tanks in game now than ever before. Tankers need something to play with you know.

We could go back to armour/infantry brigades being non-differentiated, but it is what the players wanted us to do for a long time. We can't reduce tanks further because then tankers wouldn't have anything to play with, some would claim they struggle already.

Because all your armour is basically stacked into a single armoured brigade, you're going to see a large number of tanks where armoured brigades are. We told you this when you asked for armoured brigades and infantry bridages. Heavy armour concentrations here, where the armoured brigade is, not much armour at all over there, where the infantry brigades are."

Sniper62, 617. Dambusters reports: " Well for myself anyway. After flying two bombers to the factories and getting intercepted by two 110s and some how getting away, i decided to take up a fighter as my own escort.

While on the way to tgt i could see interceptors lifting. flying W to meet up with the first bomber, i fly right over the bomber and see another con flying E. so i intercept it and its a 110 flying E about to dive on the bomber. he pushed down on the stick and i roll and pull around as hes starting to diving down. so i switch to the bomber and start to weave and once i get it to roll back i can see tracers wizing by and can hear plinks on my DB7. well anyway that gave my fighter just enough because the 110 had to go up then back around. by that time i was on the 110s 6 starting to fire, and then 110 got a few more plinks into the DB7. the 110 started smoking all different colors. then some how i got his pilot and he went into dead stick diving down. w00t the bomber is still up and flying. its slowed down but still flyable, i waited to long to switch back and missed the drop on tgt. so i kept it on autopilot and kept it flying E.

The second bomber was a few mins out now so i turned around and met up with that bomber. it got to tgt and droped just fine no defenders showed up, so i turned it back W and took the fighter E to meet up with the other bomber. once the bomber got turned around it was flying at 260kph and i got it lined up and was about 15k from tgt. i meet up with it and are acouple KM over it. i switch back and get in the bombers seat, can see the tgt through the bomb site. zoom back to make sure my speed and site alignment, and see tracers coming straight at me. all i could think was "dang, almost made it" then the bombardier gets hit in the legs it goes black but hes not dead. sweeet look through the bomb site and shes shaking all over but i was able to drop all 8 in the box.

So i switch back to the fighter and look down and the 110 has turned around and is coming up on the Db7s 6 so i dive down and put some tracers past the 110 and he rolls over and dives out. we get to MG and another 110 come zooming by, so i go up and he turns around and i get on his six. i shoo him away with some BBs and he rolls out and dives. just to try and climb back up a minute later. so again i go up and roll back around and start diving on him, i decide to fraps it and when i hit my fraps button the game freezes.........uh oh after 10 secs it comes back and i look around for the 110 and i guess i zoomed past him. i roll over top of him and get on his six as he trys to roll and put some BBs into him. he rolls out and dives just as i see tracers fly past me and hear plink plink. i look back and a 110 is over shooting. that 110 starts to fly out E and the other 110 is low, so i turn back around and get on the 110s 6 but when im starting to catch him the second 110 shows up on my six. so i roll back around and make a pass on the 110 behind me, putting afew BBs into his right wing. he rolls out once again and i decide to bug out as the bombers are safe and im down to 175 MGs left. ive had enough distance on them to stay out of guns range untill i hit around hasselt. i look back and can only see one 110 so i turn around and see if i can take him down with 175 BBs. i get on his six start liting him up but no cigar so i roll off and see a the second 110 coming at me. do a little roll and he goes zooming by. so i dive out and hit the deck, we made it to about 25km from buss when the second 110 gets in guns range and im seeing tracers fly past me. so from there on out im jinking and jiving past trees and hills, and hes just trying to hit me with anything hes got. he gets close then i jink and he goes up and back down. some how he doesnt manage to get hits on me and i make it about 5km from bux and he breaks off! w00t! So both my bombers and my fighter make it back and land. friken awsome mission, had my hear pounding like crazy the entire time. just had to tell some1 lol . "

Dinker gives the new HC advice

(OKA) Under the title 5 good tips for the newer HC guys to know, retired General and living Legend Dinker gave the new High Commanders some advice back in february 2008: " S! hc guys. For those that dont know me im an ol retired hc guy that has been meaning to post some secret tips from my long experience as a squad XO and former division officer witin the 12th Armee to which many i learnt the hard way by trial and error that i felt i should share. Some of these tips might seem silly to some of yous but trust me they really work ive died alot, been pmed dirty words and flat out been pwned in order to discover some of these basic secrets/tips that are effective. First but not least one thing ive noticed especially during allied prime time i see happen alot that i wanted to stress is:"

1. when going for an nme forward base which alot of hc spend there time doing when outnumbered....the standard thing you see is a .axis message " msp open for x fb blah blah".... now this fb is obviously important every axis player (or allied visitor) has just seen the .axis for help. now theres no doubt you will get help on the Foward base but sometimes and often this help turns out to be a complete waste of supply that only entertains the nme deffending the fb that was before luke warm and now smoking hot with mercs a charging/shooting...so tip 1 is never ever ask or get a .axis on a nme forward base that is deffended on an obviously high priorty allied atack use a few guys from the brigade or mission channel and take your time go together and hit it at the same time.

(OKH) Oberst Drakhl, Stellvertrender Befehlshaber der 1. Kampfgruppe, 3. Panzerdivisionen and a member of 1st Fallschirmsjäger Regiment had a rocky start of Campaign 47 with several of his fellow offiziers in that timezone retiring and or moving to the Allied side.
" Well, the lines are a !@#%ing mess! And you can quote me on that!" he says to From the Front and orders the 2. Kampfgruppe of 1. Panzerdivision from Herbeumont to Bertrix, while a bodyguard keeps an eye on the surroundings of the bunker.

During the morning elements from 12. Armee defended Champlon and Wellin while trying to take Marche by force to no avail. A small detachment tried to take Bievre but was countered by the 605e Régiment de Pionniers who counter-attacked from Gedinne. All in all, the front is fluent and all the way from Herbeumont to Fresnes without brigades to defend.

The Defence of Montmedy

(October 5th -France )
(AHC) Tomba, French Country Chief of Staff, announced: " What an amazing defence. Starting around 7pm Australian time, the Allies faced 4 Axis Brigades against our poor, little and very lonely single brigade. None the less, we engaged in a form of defence not seen by this command for a long time; an overly organised one Right from the AO placement Allied troops were defending our only FB (Orval), and giving the Axis hell from a perimeter around town. Others guarded flags, and all flags were covered within the first ten minutes. This continued for the entire battle. As well, the Axis MSP's were being marked and destroyed, and more Allied players continued to spawn, creating a good number for defence.

As the battle progressed, the Allied line of ATG's and sappers in the field continued to wreak havoc against enemy PZ's, and it was a welcome sign for players in town not to see any panzers, bar the occasional 232, until the final stages of the battle. As well as our line outside of town, in each CP we had dedicated guards, who served right until the end. In fact, the communication was fantastic, and only four times did a CP fall in the first three hours. It was the final twenty minutes which saw, after repeated Axis paratrooper attempts, a wave finally work and depots fall. They all fell, very quickly - as expected. While we attempted to fight back and keep hold, the Axis had far greater numbers, and the panzers rolled into town after smashing through our lines, supporting their infantry very well and taking hold of all of the CP's. With three spawnables, there was nothing left for the Allies to hold on with."

New Campaign and new Axis CinC

(October 4th - Cornered Rat Software)
(CRS) Campaign 46 was short, the Allies rolled the Axis. Due to a breach of the Code of Conduct for the High Command, Cornered Rat Doc announced that there will be a new CinC team for the Axis, the Allies suffered a quick change of command before Campaign 45 as well, but this time it was reported by the Rats.

Cornered Rat Doc: " Effective immediately, the new Axis CinC role will be filled by Gaspipe. We are confident he will do an outstanding job in his new role. His 2iC (CoS) will be Toro15 and his DCoS will be Rodlee. We hope everyone takes a step back to contemplate why this decision was necessary and understands it as part of the work we and our Community Managers do to give you the best and fairest gameplay experience that we can.
Good luck to Gaspipe, Toro15 and Rodlee and all their crew in staging a fun and exciting Campaign 47. Thank you for your support."

Allied forces Victorious!

(FTF) With Düsseldorf and Monchen-Gladbach under Allied control, Campaign 46 is now declared an Allied Victory! The campaign started september 25th at 1252 CT and ended october 3rd.

Oberkommando der Wehrmacht suffered a serious blow when five OKW officers left for the AHC and the Allies due to several reasons, but one beeing fighting within the OKA. These five officers were held in high regard by the playerbase and filled an important timezone for the Axis when Wehrmacht usually countered their losses of towns from other timezones (one could say the BC). Althou a sad affair for the Axis, the Allies won the Campaign in all fairness.

It could be, but the Rats have never really...marketed as much as they could, though the video you posted is a example of it. 'Corse it can also scare people off ("What do you mean I can't just click auto attack and win because I've spent 26 days more catassing that the other guy has!"). As the current tiny market for Flight Sims and Wargames shows (and for that matter, space sims that require a joystick!) most game players would rather fly an aircraft in Battlefield 2 than Falcon 4.0. If you like the level of detail and realism in Falcon 4.0, WW2OL should interest you. If you'd rather just press F1 to F8 and auto orbit a target at 120km from the target in your internets spaceships while you lasers look nice, then the realism and background detail is not going to be a selling point.

Corporal Enders45 reported from the battlefield: " It was an early morning in October when I received the message of the paratrooping mission into Monchen Gladbach. I left from Aachen with a group of perhaps twenty men. Our mission: secure the airfield just north of the city. By the time we got near to the drop zone however, everything went wrong. The jump was scattered, and we immediately took fire from enemy APCs. A friend of mine, Berger, dropped near me and we could hear the soldiers being killed from across the plain.

We began headed to the airfield when we saw APCs and tanks cutting off our route. We decided to take a detour and go into the city. By the time we were there, we realized that our troops could not grab the airfield unless we grabbed a depot first. We knew what we had to do. We quickly moved through the town, jumping from cover to cover until we entered the depot. We began using the radio and hoisting up our flag. The timer had started, and we began to hold the position for ten minutes. Ten excruciatingly long minutes.

After the first two, it seemed as if we would encounter no resistance, and Berger convinced me it was safe for him to move throughout the city to an adjacent depot. That was the last I saw of him. Within a minute, I heard footsteps below me, as I was in the attic. I peeked out and saw two german soldiers trying to use the radio. I pulled the pin on a grenade and dropped it down the steps. Troops began pouring in, and I did my best to hold the attic. By the time I was on my last magazine, I had run out of count of how many I killed. A few bodies were on the steps of the attic, just seconds away from reaching me. Soon, grenades started going off all over. Smoke grenades filled the bottom floor and I found it hard to see. Metacritic is an important website/service for customers. It has a index that's formed from other reviews. Battleground Europe scores a 73 out of 100 which is a very good rating for such a niche MMO. The readers scores BE at 8.4 which is even better. The problem is that these kind of tools and reviews in general gets old when it comes to MMO's. Game Chronicles are one of those reviews that the index is based upon and that review was made in november 15th, 2005, when Pentium II was the standard. So if you like the game google reviews and rate or make a re-review, most websites offer that oppertunity. So what's the latest official review in english? Well this is:
