The Kalm before the Sturm

(September 25th - Oberkommando das Heer)
(OKH) Generalmajor Veygar, Kommandeur 1. Kampfgruppe, 33. Infanterie Division, wrote home:: " Meine Liebchen, Today I get another group of boys to lead against the Allies. I always wonder to myself if they know what they are getting into, or if it is just the blind love of the Fatherland that drives them to me. It seems that with every new Kampagne the soldaten get younger and younger. I have long forgotten why I picked up my first rifle, all I know is that I don't trust our future to anyone else. These kinder need leadership, they will need mentorship, who better to provide for them than an warhorse like myself? I can teach them how to prepare themselves, how to aim true, and how to care for each the fallen. The Brigade gets our orders Wednesday, I do not know where they will place us. Once I find out I will write again. I am hoping that it will be somewhere in the north, the Netherlands would be nice. The tulips will be out this time of year, hopefully I could get there before the tanks destroy them, if we are really lucky I can send home some bulbs for your garden! I also think the sea air might ease my nerves, my XO said I was a little up tight last Kampagne, right before I got him promoted to his own Kampfgruppe! Ah well, maybe I am getting too old for this, that can't be it, maybe just a little bitter.Fresh Truppen, new supplies, a new Komandant. Same me. I will show the Korps what a finely tuned instrument can sound like! The thunder of our Panzers will shake the Earth, the staccato of our rifles will sound off with great abandon! When I return from the Front your Vater will have no choice but to let us marry! I will return victorious, and prove that I am worth giving your hand to.I await the time with patience and longing for your sweet kiss!"

Life on the virtual Battlefield

(September 30th - OKA PR Korps War Archives)
(OKA) Campaign 17 saw the introduction of Attack Objectives with mobile spawns. Suddenly World War II Online was a new game regarding tactics and strategy. Now retired Generalmajor Svedala, Stellvertrender Befehlshaber des PR Korps, Oberkommando der Achsenmächte (XO PR) made an attempt to record the campaign and to write a story from beginning to end. Mind that english is not my first language. One AAR credit to Schultz, Spelling dr07, initial Writing tips Yahtzee.

Sniper's Cross award

(September 28th - The Barracks)
(BE) Neo617, well known marksman announced: " Hathcock made an interesting post awhile back and it looked rather fun. I liked Hathcock's idea and was hoping it would have lasted longer but sadly his endeavor was short lived. But I figured I'd give it a try this map since I try to keep my K/D low or not die period. So this coming campaign I will try for my own challenge for the German side. I call it the "Sniper's Cross".
Josef Allerberger, aka Sepp, was destined to be a basic machine gunner until he came across a Soviet sniper rifle. Sepp's skill with the rifle impressed his commanding officers so much that after 27 confirmed kills he was selected for sniper training. Sepp went from being a run of the mill grunt to one of the most succesful german snipers of the war with 257 kills. He was also only one of three snipers to received the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross award during the war. His achievements are remarkable.
So this coming map I'll attempt to do the same. I know try to get 200+ kills with no death in this game is beyond difficult. But I dont think it is impossible. So to help motivate me and anyone else that wants to try I'm adding awards during the journey to the help. Read more

Sniper! Sniper! In teh Tower!
Willytees Comics for WWII Online Battleground Europe - Sunday, 28 September 2008

Borntogo is first out with an after action report: " Sortie 1: one kill about 250m, single shot. Shot at another running ei missed with a fwe shots and wounded him but them lost him. Sortie 2: one kill that I saw but CTHL so I do not know if I got any others Sortie 3: Hannut: MS NE of town and Raven129 went to kill the MS he told me that there was an EI almost at the NE corner of town near there spawnable. Shot one ei at about 50ft then the next at about 150m. The 3rd ei ducked into a bush (as did I) about 200m from me so I waited for him to show himself...when he got up to move he died. Spotted another ei running into town and got him at a little over 100m. With multiple MSs and the fb blown in a non-brigade town there was little to do, Raven died and I left having major lag issues. Tally so far 6-0 (I think, since CS&R is down and I have that one mission that I CTHLed)"

Honor in the skies

Major Zaltor: " This has to be my best mission, not for the kills (although nice) but the way it all went down. Was massive furball over tourni, I flew in Behind several EA pulling the trigger and One after one they wnet down saw, a 109f diving on wardog22, I dive in with only 18 cannon ans 200 303 (bb) left Got some my cannon hit recieved some as well, we danced for a good 5-6 mins all alone far from the furball. He was hurt bad on my last pass, And I was dry on ammo, I pulled close beside and tiped my wing we flew side by side for about a min, when a 110 arrived I speed up and crossed the 109s gun sites...... He also didnt pull the trigger, great battle great ending. I had 6 Ea kills other pilot had 4."

So what's new in the Barracks?

Yet another weekend has passed and the Axis managed a huge landgrab during sunday. Frogdeth explained the event with Spore beeing released. Stege, 41. Panzerjäger Abteilung wants the spawntimer to go because waiting 50 seconds to spawn in is just to much so it seems that the last days favoured the Axis doing a comback from beeing pushed far back. Others discuss the need or not the need for newbies to have binos and the need for new uniforms. Klesh wants to know if people uses the Post render filter or not while Skyfallr wants to discuss The Inf. Squad experience. It seems that overall Playskewls is calm and quiet and the war is taken to the Battlefield instead of the forums so all is well in Europe?
Doc takes a breather and explains about the damage model and his view on some of the playerbase in his article WTF?!?! I don't get what happend just then!.

Odds, allied player, is a tad nostalgic in how new players have it so good these days: " You don't have to deal with no cover. The Uber luger. Camping. No visual damage model. Camping. No spawn limits. More Camping. No MSP's. Still camping. No spawn able depots. No Paras. Town moles across the whole front and few towns back. Truck rushes where the thing. At guns falling off the truck, Or worse Lag and then warp into the truck killing all the inf. Titanium bushes. Super fast Opel. Super Slow opel. Clippers. The Tri09. Nerfcane. Oh yeah sappers only had pistols back then. But with no cover it was like shooting fish. The list would go on but I forgot some of them."
