(BE) There are many tricks to how you can improve your fps (frames per second) in Battleground Europe. Keep your drivers up to date, invest in RAM or just turn down the graphics and sounds in your settings (software audio demands a good processor). The Barracks have some advice in this thread. Other sections of the forums are designed for this read suggestions for Windows or Macintosh.
Cornered Rat KFS1: " If you are using built-in sound you can probably grab a whole bunch of FPS by getting a SoundBlaster Audigy or X-Fi, upping your sounds to 32 or 64 sounds (check the fine print on the product manual to see how many ***hardware*** sounds it supports; the '128 sounds' is usually the combination of hardware + software) and making sure you have your sound card selected by name in settings (not "Primary Sound Driver")
In the meantime, you can probably gain a few FPS by going
Start > Control Panel > Sounds/Devices > Sounds/Devices (if you're in XP mode) > Audio > Advanced (top one) > Performance ... and moving the sliders left a notch."
Skom, Osasto Lagus: " REMEMBER to switch Threaded optimization: Off from nvidia 3d settings if you have nvidia gfx card."
Thick, 11th Marine Infanterie Division: " Ive got a 1.5 processor, 256mb Geforce Card, and 2 GB of ram. Somehow I manage always to stay around 13+ FPS even in the largest battles, and I always keep my visual unit level on high. Just make sure all your drivers are updated, as well as sound drivers. I set my clutter to lowest density and like 3/4 distance. I removed tracer smoke. Try that out. Also pressing F10 and lowering the view range could help a little."
